Unwetter
UNWETTER are an international group of artists, curators, theoreticians and activists based in Berlin. UNWETTER, (meaning stormy and turbulent weather) are interested in radical changes to an environment and how new spaces should be opened up for exploration. As part of Architecture Week 2007 the Hinterland invited UNWETTER for a Discursive picnic along the banks of the River Trent. The people of Nottingham were invited to join them, as they tried to discover though discussion, the change of the landscape in Nottingham and what a new arts centre might bring; methods of creating art outside a gallery environment; the regeneration of the city, (esp. riverside area) and how this may affect artists.
The picnic, along the banks of the historical river, investigated the geographical site where ancient ferry crossings meet modern structures and buildings. It concluded with an exploratory walk along the river to take a look at the physical manifestations of some of the afternoon’s discussions. Members of UNWETTER who took part in the project included Jole Wilcke, Ulrike Solbrig, Benno Gammerl, Dorothee Albrecht.
